Imlost - Smokey is the name commonly given to "the monster" that killed Echo and generally freaks the crap out of people inside on the island, and rightly so. My Maglite's center shadow isn't nearly as defined as this one. However, when I mess with the lense, I can make it look different with a simple twist. Indeed, that is exactly where the center shadow would be if you shined a Maglite right onto the chair with a diffuse lense. But I really want it to be Smokey.

I saw the arm, too! I was running the scene in slow motion, and there is a reaction shot of Locke as Jacob goes crazy, then they flash up to the window, and I was SURE that I saw someone punching through the window.

DizzyIzzy-The producers already said that Smokey can take the forms of people, and as far as we can tell, only the form of dead people. He might have tried to take Walt's form, but couldn't because Walt is "special", and that's why it was always weird, Dripping wet and speaking backwards is what I mean there.

bigpinkbunny-I like that idea. Too bad Ben got the jump on Locke. I don't think it matters though. Ben probably shot Locke to slow him down. He knows that the island has healing powers, so it's not like he thought that one bullet would actually kill him you know?? He probably will go back to camp and tell the Others that Locke tried to kill him or Jacob, and when Locke comes back everyone will be against him, so he will try to go back to the survivors on the beach, but they will have some reason to not like him, so he'll go off on his own (like Rousseau) and the season cliffhanger will be Locke finding Michael and Walt washed up on shore or something huge.

I think Alex gave Locke the gun to protect him against Ben, not Jacob. The others know that Locke is special, so Alex knew that Locke would also be able to communicate with Jacob and thus would be a threat to Ben.

Sorry if Im not too quick on the uptake, but this is a different chair than Jacob was suppose to be invisible in right? If this was Lockes flashlight, then how come we don't see the center shadow on anything else he shines it on? I think there was something else in that room besides Ben, Locke and Jacob. Smokey has been consistant in manifesting in an eye. Sledge, could we get a close up of that eye? Also someone mentioned they saw a ghostie thing. On the promo shown last week for MBTC there were flash frames and one of the last ones was a creepy scary ghost thing. Do you think you could get a pic of that since someone saw the ghost in cabin. Freaked me the hell out!! Thanks Sledge.

I don't think Jacob is Smokie. I think it's two very different things that might somehow be related, but not one in the same. I don't think Smokie is a shape sifter type of thing, I think if we see smokie it's a black cloud whispy thing with images within it like a computer data type thing. Just my opinion.

What's really interesting about the clip in slow motion, is that you can see Jacob's eye pan to Locke at the very end. Ben is already looking directly at Locke, so it must be Jacob! Also, I don't think it's smokey, it's Jacob's shadow. We're thinking Ben can't actually see Jacob but the shadow is still cast when Locke shines the flashlight on him.

It is the center of the flashlight beam, just check your flashlight at home.

I am actually going to take back what I said, after looking at the photo, and watching the slow mo video, it doesn't look like smokey at all. When I watched the show the other night, even my initial reaction was that it was the maglite-circle-thing-deally. And after watching the video, you can see in the slow mo that it isn't smokey pushing Ben, but that he gets thrown back and the thing we thought was smokey is just the shadow from Ben's arm. The camera angles really throw your prospective off sometimes.

I watched the episode again last night. It is definitely the "maglite" effect on the chair. You can see the same effect before Locke & Ben enter the cabin, Locke shines the flashlight on the cabin and we get the save dark circle.

The chair might be smokey or might not. But that defenitely was smokey that pushed Ben to the wall. I didn't notice that at first. Smokey has ridiculous speed! Like right before Nikki was bitten by the spiders, smokey zoomed above her head. Freaky!

I don't believe its smokey...Locke has already encountered it face to face so I'm not sure why it would now being trying to trick him. Also, are they within the barracks or outside of it? I would say its not Smokey if they are within since we saw it repelled by the sonic barrier before.

I hope its smokey, we havnt seen him since the juliet and kate thing.
It seems a lots smaller than smokey, and only has one part, not three.
The picture of the dog could be a reference to smokey (cerberus).
This could posilbly mean, that smokey is three SEPERATE beings, in different places, if this is one, then there must be two more.
Or maybe its a shadow, I dunno ;D

I agree with lostjava and bubbles. A maglight type flashlight makes that shadow effect, Smokie doesn't need to sit, let's move on!

Definitely Smokey. If you watch the 11 frame slomo you clearly see Smokey forcing Ben back into the wall. It begins looking like a shadow of Ben's arm, but then rise up in an arc that is clearly not a shadow.

This seems to be a pretty touchy call, and I'm usually the first one to say that it is stupid to assume that Smokey would be "sitting" in a chair, but I deffinitely think something is there, but I'm not sure if it is Smokey. When you look at the circle on the back of the chair, look at the 4th, uh, rung(??) from the left. The shadow doesn't hit it the same as the other rungs, also, nagasji is right. If you look at it closely, the thing "in the chair" isn't consistent with the shadows the rungs are casting.

Definitely from the flashlight. I have a maglight that does the exact same thing. The further the distance the bigger the dark circle gets. Besides it looks 2 dimensional, if it was smokie, I think the effects guys would give it had a more 3-D look.

I really hope it's not a cloud of smoke "sitting" in a chair.

What if there are more then one smokies. Maybee the original others or inhabinent of the island are the smoke creatures. Maybe Ben has jacob traped in the cabin by the powder that the smokies can't cross and that is why he needs help.

Smokey...it moves in the scene. I believe that smokey is purposefully placed at certain scenes and that there are a few scenes that the viewers haven't caught yet and may be clues to not being so lost in Lost.
