Our old friend Marvin Candle (aka Mark Wickmund, aka Chuck Waxly <-- my own contribution) makes a return appearance in 3x11, "Enter 77". Indeed, it is our favorite one armed Asian mad scientist that provides the title of the episode we he prompts, "Enter 77" to report hostile presence. In what seems to be a ridiculous computer prompt, recordings of the good Doc appear to read menu items and provide feedback on execution. Why the menu would not appear simply in text, but have loops of film repeat instead, is a bit bizarre and counter intuitive. I'm sure old Marvin had to be sitting there at the Flame station thinking to himself, "Why am I recording all these menu items and responses when it could just appear on the screen as text?". In this film, it is much more obvious that Wickle has a fake left arm. In the Pearl video, however, it appears that Wickmund has use of his left arm.

"Max Waxly" -- nice one, Nancy D! :D
Now I'm going to look like an idiot for saying this but; Chuck Waxly's left hand is false? I guess I totally missed that.
In the last 30.7 secounds it showed 2 men monterning the the dharam computers therer was a video tape n the top off the computer say"ORINTATION"( carnt really spell that) ith the Dharama logo printed on it the computer allso seemed to be the ame modle of the ones in the hacth/s. I think the "Flame" is a moutin top make your own mind up but look at the doors of the hacts and stations clossly!
It does top off the cake, having all the manuals and the communication central with Mark Wickman/Marvin Candle the place is called the Flame. Don't you think that "tops it off"??
How about Maxwell Waxly?
His first name should start with an M to follow the pattern, though. Something like Mufasa may suffice ;D
Exactly, it's a satire on his names. Marvin CANDLE, Mark WICKman/mund... Chuck WAXly. You have to go back to the Mark Wickman investigation, when we learned he had a different but still candle oriented name, I pondered something like, "What's next, Chuck Waxly?" So, it has become my name of choice for our one armed doc.
"Chuck Waxly", sorry I don't get it, does this guy really need yet another name?
I know, but it just seemed like a Lost thing to do. Besides, they had the technology to make Joop live forever, they had interactive chess games, a way to control the magnetic build up, and they had all of their methods of the different testing, i.e. weather, paranormal, etc. Maybe he is the smokie!! Ha ha
He seems too human though. You can clearly see that he has an emotional range. Watch the videos and you can see when he gets apprehensive, and when he seems happy to tell them certain things. It is a good theory, but I don't think that the robotic technology they had was that advanced.
Maybe he is an android and they don't have to worry about him spilling the beans. He never looks like he is reading from a dummy card and he doesn't say his stuff like it is memorized. Maybe he is programmed, like the stations themselves. His arm could be a fluke in wiring.
It is becoming almost painfully clear that Dr. Candle may be the most informed person from Dharma we have come across. I know that he is only in the orientation videos and what not, but if you were told all of this information to give to other people, you might retain it.
this guy gets around
