[quote](Mrnewsguy) yone know what Linus' greatest need was in the Peanuts comic strip? Security! H Agreed, Ben might have something thats precious to him, maybe his sis, (Like Linus's blanket) so what if the losties kidnapped his sis or whatever, would he go psycho?

Ben's top dog. He is idolized by some of the others as seen in 3.1. He is the one that decides what (or feels that he should) gets on and off the island, it's "their island," thus he is a security guard. In terms of Juliet, it seems that they are odds because he's a little more domineering and if this is a utopia society, we can see that Juliet isn't having a great time, (ep. 3.1). Its interesting because it was nearly the same situation between Jack and Locke when "Henry" attempted to play the lesser against the leader. We now see Jack doing just that with Juliet.

So Benry is a security guard in the vision. His last name is Linus. Anyone know what Linus' greatest need was in the Peanuts comic strip? Security! He carried that blanket with him everywhere. He also had a domineering older sister with whom he used to fight all the time. This leads me to believe maybe Benry and Juliet are siblings, not ex-lovers. That would explain the thinly veiled hostility in eps 3:1 and 3:2.

I think that Ben was portrayed as a security gaurd "scanning" and "testing" Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, because that is essentially what he is doing on the island. ie. running tests and making them perform unusual tasks.

spencer, I think the logo behind Hurley was just an Oceanic Airlines logo...

Obvious but significant I think.

Security guy. Key term is security. Remember they used the term security to describe one other thing on the island. The security system. A.K.A. Smoke Monster.

The writers also alluded to having seen the smoke monster in "one form or another" in one of the official podcast last season.

I think that form is Ben which is why he appears so cold and calculating. It either IS him or he controls it which is how he has those camera-less views with no cameras.

Just a though.

What was the logo behind Hurley?

It seemed like the airport was representative of the island and all of the people there were representative of what was their situation. For example, Ben "works for the island", so he was doing security (Wonder if that means something). Just like Hurley. At the time that Locke was having the vision, Hurley was walking across the island to tell everyone not to go to the port; he was doing this because Ben told him to, so in a way, he working for the island as well, that's why he was behind the counter doing the button pushing.
