What's Hot: 6x05: User Requested Images
In "Live Together, Die Alone", Jack, Micheal, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley come across a giant bird that swoops down at them. As it flies by, it lets out it's "HURLEY" screech. This is similar to the Hurley Bird seen in the first season of LOST when Jack and company are on their way to blow open the hatch. In this second appearance, Hurley asks "Did that bird just say my name?" after it flies by.
Note: In the official podcast, Damon and Carlton said they brought back the Hurley bird at popular request, as an inside joke for Lost fans.

i think the bird looks scary. eugh. anyone have an audi sample of the bird? i could never make out that it said Hurley. lol. then again, i really didn't pay attention to what the bird might say. :D
i love the Hurley bird. i think that the evil monster is Smokey. :o cause like, whenever we see it, there's this sorta mechanical sound, like, a train on a railroad or something.
i know what you mean. i just can't leave it till next season that would take way too long. i have to figure it out now!!!
Sorry, another note: in the Official Lost podcast, the producers hinted strongly that the audience "may have" seen the monster sometime this season without knowing it. Cryptic. Any thoughts?
I heard on a podcast that there was a dharma logo on the bird. Any truth to this?
Thethree... i wish the monster was still here as well... made the show much more exciting when every episode some dumb person would walk into the jungle and boom
fusebox-It just seems like it has to be an experiment, it looked like a parrot with the wingspan of an eagle or something. do you mean when they went to get the dynamite and the "vulture" looking thing flew out of the tree?? Then yes, Hurley was with that search party.
Not the best CGI, to be sure, unless it was intended to look unreal or surreal as it did. I thought it was interesting, my wife found it freaky, and my dog jumped. It could be an inside joke, but the producers definitely know by now that we take all this crap seriously! It could be part of the "security system."
It was necessary, obviously, to cause the interaction between Michael and Jack.
I'm sort of thinking this goes in the Easter Egg category, since it's just a fun inside joke by TPTB (as pointed out, they joked about it on the podcast)
That bird is freaky bt i think they put it there so as to show us later feeling etc. of the members when M. realised his gun was not loaded he had somewhat of anger in his face dont you think? And suspected they knew where he was takeing them...

well, i sure as heck thought it was funny and it made michael realize that his gun wasnt loaded.
That can't be very important a little comic relief. It did sound like it said hurley.
The HurleyBird is an inside joke. Cuse and Lindelof mention it in one of the older podcasts.
